My husband and I are long time East Village residents and our hearts go out to all the victims.
The one victim that seems not to have a fundraising page is Moises Locon Yak.    http://www.wsj.com/articles/two-men-missing-after-explosion-in-new-yorks-east-village-1427502336

Moises was working in the restaurant as a busboy and along with another young man, Nicolas Figueroa, seem to have been tragically killed in the explosion.   We often dine in the EV restaurants and know so many hard working busboys and waitstaff and they are so good natured and kind.  I can only imagine what a loss this young man is to his family and friends.

We will directly give the funds to the family of Moises We are still trying to get in touch with his family to find out how to send them this money.

Thank you

Lisa and Matvey

I had to share this note that was posted to our page in case you missed it.
I think this is Moises eldest brother Elicio and I think lives in Guatemala. I'm am so so moved.

Please keep posting and sharing. Every donation matters so much to them. Five dollars ten dollars
is great. All that matters is a show of caring. I'm not stopping till this is at 20,000.
Thank you!!!!See below

NOW THIS IS WONDERFUL !! A private email from one of our Funders...AND how amazing that in the past few hours we got more donations...YEAH!

I had to share the below email...

Hi Lisa,

Thank YOU for all of your hard work to help Moises' family. After 13 years in the East Village, efforts like yours remind me why I still love it here.

I've just forwarded it to my mother, who will contribute, and I'll share it to on Facebook today (I never do that kind of thing, so was hesitant), but this is worth it.

I can't imagine how emotional it was to meet Moises' family. Thank you for keeping all of us updated.

Hello Supporters,

I met with three of Moises' brothers this afternoon: Alfredo, David and Zacarias Locon Yac.

Through a translator, the amazing Damaris Reyes, the executive director of GOLES ( Good Old Lower East Side Inc.) Alfredo, the eldest, told me to tell you that they are so grateful and thankful for your support.

Their loss will never be resolved though a fund but the numbers of you who have contributed have meant the world to them.

Lets continue to show them the love and care of the community and share this fund with your friends and family and coworkers.

I will not stop bugging you all till we get to 20K...thank you again.

I received a very sweet email from one of the donors:

"I was a regular at the restaurant so I did know Moises by face and we would say hello. Moises was always hardworking and smiling. Thank you for setting up this page, please keep us updated with news. Warmest wishes"

And as per her request for news:
I spoke to them yesterday.

The family is very grateful and moved by all of your support. They seem like very kind and pure people, though I have mostly spoken though translators and always on phone or via text. I can't give you any more information other than that I told the brother, who is my contact, that the fund is there for financial support but also to let them know that they are not alone in the world. That people really care. Please help me to continue to show them our support.

I really want to get to 20G and just so you know - all the money that has already been donated is already being sent to them.! The GoFundMe will allow us to continue to donate and will give what is already there simultaneously. Which I feel good about.
PLEASE KEEP PASSING THE FUND TO FRIENDS

at one point the Figueroa family increased their raising goal to $20k indicating the extra $10k will be used for Moises funeral arrangements. Maybe its easier for u to contact the Figueroa family, perhaps they can help u locate the Yoc family.

Can you tweet this to Univision or Telemundo? or Channel 41 (local univision) or channel 47 (local telemundo) because the mom and relateves were interviewed and I saw it on TV. It would have more credance if the tweet came from the organizer. Thanks

I made a donation and then just heard from someone else who also made a donation that apparently the family cannot be located. Please let me know what is actually happening. Years ago I made a similar type of donation to help fund the restoration of southern churches that had been burned down, and it turned out that the minister who set up the fund took the money for himself. There was no relief for donors and I gave a larger amount. I'm sure you're doing the right thing but if the family cannot be located, please let donors know what your plans are. Many thanks for your efforts.
