Just because your life changes doesn’t mean your deepest passions have to” – Shannon Miller

Terri Dennis has been living her passion for her entire life.  The joy she gets from her art and her cocktail wizardry has driven both her personal and professional lives.  In the art community you may know her as Pop Art Diva or, if you are in the craft cocktail world, perhaps as The Martini Diva.  Either way, Terri has been sharing her colorful art, creative spirit and unique cocktail recipes with all of us for decades.

Nearly 30 years ago Terri was involved in an auto accident which resulted in osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint condition.  Since then, the condition progressed and Terri had to scale back, then completely retire from the professional art shows in which she participated. Additionally, creating her art became difficult as did many of the everyday life tasks we all take for granted. Terri is now unable to stand for more than a minute or two, she can walk only a few feet unaided, has difficulty climbing stairs and even unloading her groceries requires aid.

Her doctors say the condition will continue to degenerate.  Terri is not currently a candidate for joint replacements and her steroid injections are no longer effective. She is able to walk a short distance using two canes but not for more than a few minutes at a time.  She is unable to do errands by herself, go to an event or museum or enjoy anything that requires movement without some sort of assistance.  The end result is that Terri is now virtually a shut-in.

A lightweight folding electric motorized wheelchair will give Terri some semblance of a normal life again.  This wheelchair is one which can be handled by a single person, can fit folded in the back of a car, does not require costly modifications to the car, and in normal use can be handled by a disabled person.  With the help of her doctor Terri applied to Medicare but they do not cover the kind of wheelchair she needs.  Her request has been rejected 3 times.

As she lives alone, this wheelchair will help Terri to do most normal things without having to rely on others and will allow her to focus on her art, design and cocktail creations rather than her disability.  We can band together and do a good thing for someone who has brought joy and beauty into our lives, and ensure she has the independence, mobility and ability to continue to share with us the results of her creative passions in the coming years.

With your help we can get Terri out and about, and creatively stimulated by her world again.  Thanks in advance for your support!

I may be broken, but a broken crayon can still color and bring something new and beautiful into the world!” – Terri Dennis, aka the Pop Art Diva/The Martini Diva
