MMC's PICU - Kenya for Kids Hearts

Donation protected
In November 2018 a group of surgeons, medical doctors, nurses and perfusionists from the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center, lead by Dr Reed Quinn, will travel to Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya to conduct life saving operations on babies and children with congenital cardiac disease who could not their receive care anywhere else.

This team donates their vacation time and skills so that innocent lives can be saved. They are able to do this with the help of generous donations from Emirates Airlines and Samaritan's Purse but that still leaves them with a large amount of personal debt.  Your donation will help pay for the Pediatric Intensive Care team volunteer's licensing, immunizations, medications, insurance, visas, bus transport, accommodation and food costs in Kenya.  These can amount to over $2,000 per person.

The PICU team comprises of Darcy Tarr RN, Sue Thayer RN, Pam Schlichting RN, and Michael Ferguson MD. Anything you can offer is a blessing. We are honored to be able to do this with your help.

On behalf of the PICU team and the children we will be saving, thank you. Michael Ferguson MD
