Thank you for reading about my story! I am heading out West in late January for an intensive, immersive 12-week Massage School program at the Crestone Healing Arts Center (Colorado) near the idyllic, sublime, restorative Sangre de Christo mountain range.
The school I am attending is special for a number of reasons - for starters it is a Heaven and Earth school, meaning there is an emphasis on the Chi meridians of the body, Qigong practice and massage techniques that work with these meridians. Second it is an intensive program, meaning some weeks we will have class, practicum or training 50+ hours / week. (I won't have time to work during the program.) And third, we will have a small cohort of students (maximum of 10), and therefore it will be transformative regarding interpersonal relationships and having a close knit group of practitioners.
Why is this program a good fit for me? I have been blessed to be able to practice Craniosacral work and other bodywork modalities for over 12 years now. My therapeutic touch has become very refined, along with my intuition and ability to track the energetic field of a session or group. By becoming licensed to touch, and learning new massage techniques, I will be able to: teach classes, offer more services to clients, have more confidence in advertising and promoting my practice and be clearer and more competent in doing bodywork with infants and people of all ages. I really see myself taking off in the coming year(s) with regard to working with Pre- and Perinatal Psychology, birth process work and deepening my equanimity in working with many health challenges and various types of clients.
I have the tuition, lodging and most of the fees covered (approximately $11,000) along with needing to purchase about $900 worth of books and materials. The reason I am asking for financial support is this - I need food money (rather than putting it all on credit cards) - $1000, transportation funds - $300 - and I would like to have a little cushion for opening a new office and resuming a solid practice when I return to Charlottesville.
