Lindsay is one of the strongest, bravest, and most beautiful young women I know." Okay, she's my niece and God-child and I'm a little biased."
Lindsay began this journey in late October being admitted to Beth Israel Deaconess hospital in Boston.She was admitted to their ICU after 2 weeks.She had many bumps in the road but stayed strong and tried to move forward. The time came to think about rehab getting her closer to Pittsburgh. She was admitted into Spaulding Rehab in Cambridge and spent about 5 days there.To tell you the truth I'd have to look at documentation to give the real time frame for now a guesstimation is all I can give.In there she hit a road block as now her kidneys have started to misbehave and it was determined she now be transferred to Brigham and Women's hospital where she continued to do her best to move forward. Her goal,our goal has always been to get her to Pittsburgh for her second double lung transplant and now a kidney transplant has been added to that goal.
On December 12th she was med-flighted to the MICU at UPMC to begin working on her strength and evaluation for her double lung transplant which will come first and then a
kidney transplant 2 months later. We started "Lungs for Lindsay" to help us with the costs
related to the transplants.The med-flight,accommodations,gas,food,flights etc.
My sister Katie has been with Lindsay every step of the way and as you can imagine it hasn't been easy . Lindsay's sister Emily,brother Mac (Harry) and I are traveling to Pittsburgh later
this week to spend Christmas with them ,we can't wait !
Needless to say Lindsay could be in Pittsburg for months waiting for the transplant and then
after the transplant. Our goal is to have her discharged from UPMC and stay at the
Residence Inn a few blocks away from the hospital to await her transplant . That is still going to take some time. Unfortunately, because of her CF she can't stay at one of the family houses the hospital has that is why we are asking for your continued help.So please continue to share this and send Lindsay your prayers and positive karma.
