Caerus (Kyrus) needs a wheelchair

$405 of $500 goal

Raised by 10 people in 50 months
Hi, my name is Caerus (pronounced Kyrus). It means Luck and favorable moments. That's what my new "mommies" named me anyway. They recently rescued me from Ashland , Or.
You see, I'm a lemon of a cat. I mean, I'm partially paralyzed in my back legs. I still have feeling all the way to my toes, I just can't get my feet under me to walk. I can stand on my own now, but a few days ago, I wasn't able to do that either. Just trying to use the litter box, which my new "mommies" cut down so I could drag myself in it is a struggle. I have to have constant baths, which I don't like and I'm 4mo old.!
The reason why my new "mommies" rescued me aside from my disability, is that all the shelters and humane societies are filled with adoptable cats and kittens. No one wanted a lemon like me. They'd rather euthanize me, but the nice people at an emergency veterinary clinic  didn't want that either. They found me new "mommies" who they said would love me and take care of me. The doctors said that I should regain full to most of my mobility with time, TLC and rehabilitation. The doctors can't explain what really happened to me, but that I have had some sort of spinal trauma in my short life.
Anyway, my new "mommies" want me to have the best life I can have even if I never walk normal. They're buying me a swimming pool to help with my rehabilitation and I'll have to go to the vet a lot to check on my progress. My "mommies" want to buy me a wheelchair chair so I'm not dragging myself around while I strengthen my legs, but I heard them say it's really expensive.
How does a kitten like me repay my "mommies"for their kindness  when I can't even take care of myself? I love my new "mommies". They've shown me what unconditional love is like.  They tell me that they'd rescue me all over again.
Not only am I lucky to be alive, but they took two tiny baby kittens too. I don't know their story, but I do know they're still drinking from a bottle. I try to play with my "mommies", but I mostly just roll around. My "mommies" say that I deserve a great life with or without my mobility issues.

Do do you think you could help my "mommies" pay for my wheelchair and some of my veterinary visits?

Sincerely a lemon,
Caerus

Mitten's Motel has been a 'Home Away From Home' experience for many cats while their owners are vacationing.  We are a family owned business, and opened in May 2010. We often help with motherless kittens, homeless people's cats or cats who have been abandoned. If you or anyone you know would like to adopt a kitten or cat, please call us. We are always in need of physical donations as well-beds, blankets, food, formula, towels, etc.

Today was Cearus's 1st vet appointment. Dr Smith says to hold off on the wheelchair. Since he's made such huge progress in the 5 days I've had him to give him more time. No vaccines or neutering for a couple of months and he is almost 4 months old. She wants his body to heal itself. Was tested negative and dewormed. She thinks some kids manhandled him and hurt him, but that he wants to walk. Let him be a kitten as well as keep doing what I'm doing with him.

Next appointment in 3 weeks. My heart is so full of love for him and everyone who cares enough to donate!
Been a hard day

Here's a Cearus update...he's taking little steps as long as he can grip the floor. He has diarrhea, but that's expected cuz of diet change. We have our 1st vet visit this Friday and then he'll need to be neutered. I've talked to the wheelchair people and they said he needs to be 4#. Think he's close. Still hates his baths!
He's So grateful for everyone's support and donations

We haven't done much with our Go Fund Me page in a while, so we have decided that our Go Fund Me page will now go directly to buying food for Multnomah County Animal Shelter foster cats & Kitten's. As we foster, cats will stay with us until they are able to go back to the shelter and be put up for adoption. Donations will help by providing much needed food (some cats need a specialty diet or grain free diet food. The shelter, of course, have limited funds for food. They give food donations to their fosters that they have received when they are able to. Which means, many fosters are paying for food with their own money.

Please share our page and help us raise money for food.

Thank you for your continued support,
Mitten's Motel

I have not had to board my cat at Mitten's but you guys did an amazing thing when you took in a litter of practically newborn kittens that I rescued from the yard of a tire shop where the mom didn't return to care for them. Prior to getting in touch with Brandy I had made countless calls trying to place these kittens with someone qualified to take care of them and was met with dead ends. Brandy agreed immediately to take them off my hands and care for them. I admire and respect the work that you do and the dedication. Taking care of the kittens for the few days I had them in my home was no easy task. It's hard work but you guys are willing to do it. Kudos to you and I wish you luck with your projects and expansion.
