United Negro College Fund Collection

Dear UNCF Contributor,
I am Sheila Richmond, a sophomore at Jarvis Christian College, in Hawkins, Texas pursuing a dual degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting and Music. I am competing for the title of Miss United Negro College Fund/Jarvis 2013-2014. The UNCF is an outstanding organization founded to raise funds for private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's). These funds are used to assist underprivileged and deserving students by providing scholarship opportunities, leadership opportunities, community service involvements, and many more opportunities.
As a student at Jarvis Christian College, I have been committed to various organizations including the Concert/Gospel Choir and Show Choir. I am also a member of Pre-Alumni Council, and was Secretary of my freshman class. My freshman year, I received the honor of being a Distinguished Honors student. I was the a member of the Sunday Morning Ensemble. Currently, as a sophomore, I am Ms. Choir. I lead in rehearsals as well as in the lives of the choir members outside the classroom.
I am passionate about my school and desire to be a part of making a difference in the lives of others. I am excited to be a contestant for the Miss UNCF competition! As a contestant, I am responsible for raising money through fundraisers and donations. The contestant raising the most money will win the campus title of Miss UNCF/Jarvis and will represent Jarvis Christian College in the National Miss UNCF Competition in Atlanta, GA.
