My Journey:
Growing up in a traditional indian household, I never imagined qualifying for a pageant like the Miss California organization in the Miss America Organization. I would watch these shows and wonder how these amazing women had the self confidence to get on stage and be true to themself. I aspired to be like them one day. I faced many challenges as a child such as health problems, obesity, and societal expecations which made this vision of mine so distant. When my great uncle passed away last year, I promised myself that I would go after my dream of competing in Miss California, and that is when my true journey started. On January 8th, I took the first step of my dream to compete on the Miss California stage by winning the title of Miss Silicon Valley. As a local title holder, I want to help young women develop skills needed to navigate through the societal boundaries and become the next generation of leaders.
Why I need to Fundraise:
In order to compete in Miss California I need to raise scholarship money to help promote my platform around women empowerment.
My Goal:
My goal for this year as a title holder is to work with young women to always fight for their passion. I am working with local organizations to help increase awareness and build a stronger network of women. I want to be an example to young women everywhere that no matter what size, background or race they are, they can stand proud on the Miss California stage.
