Emma Needs Your Help!

I am hoping you can help me. My beloved cat Emma is in trouble. An ultrasound shows she has swelling of the intestines and an enlarged spleen. These are signs that point to something more serious, possible Feline Gastrointestinal (Small-Cell) Lymphoma. However, the only way to diagnose this for sure is with a biopsy at an internal medicine vet.
Although the diagnosis is not yet made, I am preparing for the worst. Cats with Small-Cell Lymphoma can have a good prognosis if treated with chemotherapy drugs (which cats tolerate much better than humans) and prednisone. The vet also recommended a novel-protein prescription diet and probiotics to reduce inflammation in her gut. In the meantime, Emma's only symptom has been periodic vomiting. Otherwise, she is energetic, playful, and has a good appetite. The ultrasound did not show swollen lymph nodes or any masses, so I am hopeful that she is a good candidate for treatment. I want very much to give Emma her best chance for treatment, but I need some financial help to make it happen.
Veterinarians generally don't give estimates before an initial visit, but having worked in veterinary hospitals from 2007 to 2013, I have some awareness of what we are facing. If funded, your donations would help pay for:
· Emma's initial Internal Medicine appointment
· Sedation and biopsy
· Chemotherapy and Prednisone treatment (anywhere from 6 months to a year)
· Follow-up visits and lab work
· Prescription diet food and probiotics
I have an appointment for Emma at VCA Bay Area on Thursday, August 24th. Once she is biopsied, they will provide an estimate for her treatment and I can adjust my goal if necessary. I am already tightening my belt to pay for some of these costs myself, but I can't do it without your help.
Emma is a sweet-natured, affectionate and playful cat, and I love her with all my heart. I will do anything I can to make sure she lives as long and happy a life as possible.
