If you don’t know Darby and her Mom, Holly....well you’re missing out. They’re two peas-in-a-pod and truly indescribable souls. Full of spunk, loyalty, smiles, kindness, and pure hearts, they infinitely add to the lives of everyone they touch.
On June 8th, after not acting like herself, Darby had to be taken to Dogwood ER where they kept her overnight for tests and to stabilize with an appointment to be back on Monday, June 11th. While the anticipated prognosis was Addison’s Disease, Darby didn’t make it until Monday....she and Holly were back at Dogwood ER Sunday, June 10th after Darby collapsed when trying to get out of bed. After two more days at Dogwood, Darby was able to go home on Tuesday, June 12th officially diagnosed with Addison’s Disease and although she had lost a significant amount of weight in a short time and had a long road back to her full-throttle self, all seemed to be on the upswing with a long-term plan to manage the disease with monthly treatment. On June 16th, Darby started her 5th birthday with a celebration, just as you would expect any princess to, with Mom and Grandma by her side. The celebration quickly came to a halt, however, when Darby again took a turn and had to be taken back to Dogwood ER, where’s she had to remain since. Her doctors are perplexed and working hard to help and pinpoint a solution, which they had hoped would be the monthly treatment. To find out what will specifically work for Darby, they need a bit more time which any stubborn five year old deserves, but it comes with a price. To help give Darby the time she needs and Holly the support she needs, I am requesting your help. Please help if you at all can until we can get Darby through this and home with her Mom, where she belongs....she is showing positive signs but needs a bit more time with her doctors.
I’m skeptical of people when I first meet them, I need to get a feel for them first, and Holly was no different....and doing the same to me I’m sure. The first time we had a conversation, it was about our girls and our love for animals and ever since then, she has been a true friend, a true person, a true heart....and Darby is just like her mom. I cannot imagine what this must be like not the decisions we face with our animals. To us, these are our children. Like Darby, Holly can be a bit stubborn and not ask for help from those who want to help....so I am making the request without permission.
