Tiffany Chavez took a huge leap of faith to a healthier life. She decided to have bypass surgery to be here longer and enjoy a active lifstyle with her family. Even though she is already a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, niece, and friend to everyone in her life she chose to face her biggest fears and have the surgery. Now we sit and wonder why. How can this be happening? Her fear of hospitals ventilators and trauma that follows are now her reality.
After bypass surgery Tiffany has suffered set back after set back. The stomach sleeve has a hole and multiple other leaks causing her to go into septic shock. For 8 weeks now Tiffany has fought for her life. Now she faces kidney failure and toxic levels of infection, carbon dioxide in her blood. One thing she feared most was the ventilator which she has been on and taken off too many times to count. Each time she's intubated it gets harder to take her off of it and our only option now is to do a tracheotomy.
The one thing that has remained a constant is her husband Ramon being the one to calm her anxiety fears. He is so loving and attentive to my sister Tiffany. She has anxiety in her conscious moments and one look or word from him instantly calms her. He has been through so much taking care of Tiffany and their boys trying to give them a sense of calm in this disaster. Ramon is out of FMLA to continue being her life preserver. Within a few days he faces a choice to take a full leave of absence.
Our family is asking for help to offset some of the medical costs and give the Chavez family a little room to breathe. We don't know how Tiffany's fight is going to go, but we know her family could use the support during this horrible time. We don't know if the Chavez family will go from a two income household to one. We don't know the financial situation that lies ahead. We do know that donations would give some sense of relief to a wonderful deserving family. It would ease a small bit of wondering about the mortgage, food in the pantry or all the medical bills that are coming in from this fight for a better life.
