To my family, friends, friends of my friends, acquaintances and all people with a good heart. My name is Rafael Eduardo Iza Valladolid, I am 28 years old and until 5 days ago I had a normal life (at least as we usually know it). I had a family, a job, and a lot of dreams; But to tell the truth, many of those dreams were vanities (TODAY I'm sorry so) that surely many also have (trips, walks, things, etc.), dreams that are not bad, but life sometimes challenges you in a way that change your whole world, even your dreams. Yes, those challenges that are seen in the movies and in television programs, those challenges that we illegally believe are so distant, those challenges that we believe will never be ours. Today I only dream of returning to see my daughter Mikella in good health, vigorous, smiling, playful, loving, radiant. Today I live only for that goal, for that dream.
Until 5 days ago I had the luxury of kissing my daughter good night and going to sleep peacefully knowing that the next day I would wake up with a powerful cry of: Dad !! Daddy!! Today I do not have it at home, and when I say goodbye I must kiss her with a mouthpiece laid and very carefully, but the worst thing, what hurts in the soul, is not knowing if I will have her with me the next morning.
Leukemia can be a very cruel disease, especially if you have to suffer that being a baby of only 1 year and 7 months.
How I wish I could feel the pain of each needle, the bad taste of each medication, the discomfort of being in a place where I do not want to be, doing what I do not want to do, not being able to play, run, scream, grow . How I wish instead of donating blood, donate my health, my strength, my life, my soul to see her well again. But I can not! This feeling, this pain that presses the chest from the depths of the soul, I do not want it to anyone. However, we feel that God has entrusted us with this mission. I have always said that things happen for something and everything that is done with love, with affection, comes out well. Surely God wants to teach us something with this, and I feel that not only to me or my family, but to all those around us. I feel we have been chosen to give a message and we want to bring it to all of you. I usually say and I will not get tired: Live life as if every day was the last. Enjoy! We only have one life, we do not waste it in lamentations, resentments, hatreds, revenges, etc. Let's look at life with enthusiasm and enjoy how much or little we have, especially for things with great value, those things that do not cost us (money), like a good night, my son, I love you, I love you mom, I love you dad, you are the best, I am proud of you, etc. Sometimes we are not aware of the good we can carry and how much we can enjoy life with small things. Give heartfelt thanks for having health and for having the opportunity of seeing one more day.
Together with my family we have started the battle against this cruel disease, a battle that at best will last 3 long years, but we can not do this alone, we need your help. This disease is so cruel as it is costly, it is literally impossible for us to cover all costs. Please help us in this battle.
