We are  Mindful Veterans Connection, a web-based community sponsored by the Mindful Veterans of Delaware (MVD),  http://mindfulvets.net.

Mindful Veterans Connection was founded by US military veterans who get medical care from the Wilmington Delaware VA Hospital and who are graduates of the VA's former MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and other Mindfulness-based programs.

We are NOT affiliated with or approved by the VA but are supported and informed in our efforts by Dr. Jenna Tedesco, who founded and ran the MBSR program at the Wilmington  Delaware's VA Mindfulness Program from 2009 to late spring of 2018.

Unfortunately, the VA, in its wisdom, forced Dr. Tedesco out in May of 2018. Details on this are in a press release HERE.  Dr. Tedesco is still very involved in helping veterans in Delaware and gives us input and guidance as we grow our website.

We also are informed -- and inspired -- by other outstanding Mindfulness teachers and leaders of Delaware, including Dr. Bill McCracken of the Delaware Center for Mindfulness and Delaware Technical Community College as well as  Dr. James Walsh, mindfulness educator, leader, therapist and director of the GIFT mindfulness project in Delaware (see below), as well as other mindfulness clinicians and experts in our area and around the USA.

At present we have opened up our website for US Veterans and active duty military all over the country  and the world. We are building  a web space for veterans who are using -- or interested in using -- mindfulness principles and techniques in their post-military lives. We will soon begin web promotions and site upgrades.

As we grow to include mindful veterans from all over the world we will be upgrading our website's functionality, looking to enable web-based communications between veterans. With an improved website we will be able to connect more veterans with each other and resources; also, our planned upgraded website will also work closely with allied organizations of all types.

We are grateful for our present affiliation with a Mindfulness Project, GIFT (Global Initiative for Tomorrow) based in Delaware under the inspiring leadership of Sam Beard. www.sambeardgift.org .  coordinated by Dr. James Walsh.

We believe strongly that mindful meditation as taught in the VA MBSR and MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) changes -- and even saves -- lives and greatly relieves the suffering of those who incorporate them into their lives and medical treatments. Our website is veterans reaching out to all veterans to share the tools of mindfulness which we have found to be game-changers and life-savers.

Our members are using MBSR principles and techniques to deal with PTSD, Parkinsons, Depression, Anger Management, Chronic Pain & Anxiety, Agent Orange Syndrome, and more. It works for us and we want to spread the word, not only to Vietnam era vets but now particularly to younger vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Any help with this will be deeply appreciated.
