One of ten people is lacking safe and reliable access to drinking water.

One in three people is lacking access to a toilet or sanitation facilities.

Water is a human right and should be recognised and treated as one!
Nowadays, the serious deficit in the global field of water supply and sanitation is still omnipresent - whilst most of us live in a world of constant water surplus. Serious problems in the field of water, such as droughts and water scarcity are becoming more frequent, and it is estimated that an improvement in the field is rather unlikely.
This is where we come in.

What, How & Why?
#artcreateswater #allforwater #waterforall
We as Viva con Agua Nederland are fighting for the access to clean and safe drinking water, the access to basic sanitation and the creation of hygiene facilities around the world.
Currently, we are working on the creation of a grand art exhibition in Maastricht, which is focused on the idea of Art Creates Water. In the second week of September 2017, we will bring the Millerntor Gallery from Hamburg to the Decorfabriek in Maastricht. The overall aim of this gallery is to create awareness on the topic of water, sell the artworks and donate the revenue to Simavi, our long-term trusted Dutch development partner.
For our exhibition, we are working with over 28 international artists from all over the globe, who are interested in supporting our project and will contribute their art work to our cause. But our exhibition will not only benefit those who lack access to safe water, we want our exhibition to be part of the further development of awareness in Maastricht and the general Dutch public. We want to make people aware of the pressing issue of water scarcity and the impact of a deficient access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for people around the world.

However, we do not only set out to raise funds for programs abroad - we also want to further deepen the cultural scene in Maastricht and contribute to its development. We are already working with several others to bring together local organisations and create a festival-like event to promote the cultural diversity in Maastricht. Next to our exhibition, workshops, debates and concerts will take place, to create a platform of dialouge and cutural experience.

Finally, we want our event to be as inclusive as possible. This means that we would like to reach all parts of Maastricht society, from elementary school children, to students, to private art collectors, to refugees, to professors, to workers - actually, for all. Together, we will form an event based on inclusivity, tolerance and awareness that will further deepen the cultural scene of Maastricht while contributing to the cause of Viva con Agua: global water awareness!

Who?
We, Viva con Agua, are a foundation that fights for the recognition of water as a human right and and its sufficient and fair distribution around the globe. To support our cause in the Netherlands, we have teamed up with Simavi, one of the oldest and most well established Dutch development organisations. Together with Simavi, we are supporting the WASH Projects, which began in January 2016 and will be supported for the next three years. The WASH Projects focus on fair access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and thus go further than projects which only support access to clean drinking water, as the WASH Projects aim to develop sustainable and long-term access to water for entire communities. Viva con Agua is currently explicitly supporting the WASH Projects for communities in the Burisa Region in Kenya, with an estimated current number of 6.600 beneficiaries.

If you would like to know more about us, our projects and Simavi, just contact us on Facebook or here.

So far, so good - but now we need your help for this event to happen! We are an organisation that is solely based on donations: so we rely on YOU, through sponsoring, donations and crowdfunding!
