Mill Valley Skatepark Extension

Tax deductible
**** UPDATE: WE DID IT! ****

We reached our goal thanks to the amazing support of all of you! Final construction has been scheduled for the week of Feb 10th, with a Grand Opening on Feb 25th 4-6PM.

** **BUT THE MORE WE RAISE THE MORE WE BUIILD! SO WE RAISED THE GOAL AND COULD  STILL VERY MUCH USE YOUR SUPPORT****

Dear friends of the Mill Valley Skatepark,

The long-overdue renovation of the Mill Valley Skatepark is almost done! The quality and size of the park has exceeded all goals and is wrapping up this week. We have to wait at least a few weeks for the concrete to cure. The grand opening is being planned for late  February.

But we have an opportunity right now to make the park even better. There is an additional 1,000 sq. ft. section in the back of the park that was never included in this renovation due to budget and time constraints.  Given how amazing the new park has turned out and the relatively small additional cost to complete this last piece, we have decided to make one last push to try to get it done while we still have access to the current build crew. To that end we'd like to invite you to COME CHECK OUT THE PARK THIS TUESDAY 1/29, 4-6PM. It will not be open to skate, but you can walk around the whole park and see what you would be donating towards.

This potential back extension to the park would be extremely beneficial for at least 3 reasons:
*Adds more dedicated space for flat ground / street-skating
*Creates a protected space for beginners
*Completes circular flow to the park

This potential extension would become a large flat slab with street-oriented features like a rail, manual pad, slappy curbs and dedicated flat-ground space (perfect for a game of SKATE). This additional space would also be ideal for beginners, giving them a more protected area to skate without having to navigate as much cross-traffic. It would allow for much more circular traffic flow around the park as well, as you would be able to skate around both sides of the big quarter-pipe to access the new back extension area.

This renovation has been a true community effort thus far, which has allowed us to build far more for far less than it would normally cost. Generous donations, discounts, and volunteer time has come from Friends of Mill Valley Parks and Rec, The City of Mill Valley, MV School District, Pacific Ridge Construction, Murdock Architects, Golden State Building Supply, Proof Lab Skate Shop, as well as many other individuals and families. For this we are incredibly grateful. The park has been built for only $170,000, which is less than a flat concrete slab (with no skate ramps) was going to cost at this location if the project had been fully outsourced to a traditional construction firm.

Any donation you can make is greatly appreciated and is tax deductible. Thanks for all of your incredibly generous support. We look forward to finishing the renovation and inviting you to a ribbon cutting ceremony this February. And we hope to see you THIS TUESDAY 1/29, 4-6 PM for a sneak peak of the epic new skatepark!
