I am a disabled single mom who volunteers most of my time to help Mr. Rice the teacher of a large Cherokee County Orchestra and Chorus Middle School.  I started two years ago driving my girls to school 5 days a week and staying til school was over.  In order to continue volunteering I have to raise some money to cover my gas and expenses.  This is to aide me to be able to continue to volunteer 4 days a week. I began volunteering in 2016 for a few reasons: I had two girls that attended the school at the time and due to a loss in our home we were living in a hotel for over 7 months and their dad had moved away so I wanted to be close because they were having a very hard time.  What I found was not just the ability to be there for my girls but a place that I could help other students as well with the gifts God had given me.  Mr. Rice and I became good friends as I watched how difficult it was for One Man to educate so many kids at one time on how to play an instrument or use their voice to make beautiful music.  I noticed that it was much easier with me there and I saw Mr. Rice start to enjoy teaching again more and more. Unless you are someone in this kind of position it is very hard to appreciate just how much it takes to "Teach". This year the  MCMS orchestra and chorus classes vary in size from 56 to 82 students per class. Mr. Rice is a remarkable man but he needs help.  I am a recently divorced mother of 3 with my first grandchild on the way that is disabled but I truly feel that God has placed me where I need to be; but financially I am struggling. I Love these kids and I am desperately trying to find a way to stay so I trusting that God will provide just that thru this campaign. My girls are now gone on to HS but I have chose to stay and continue volunteering with Mr. Rice at Mill Creek.  I know he benefits from my help as a vocal assistant in chorus and even just having another set of eyes in such a large classroom.  God's still able to use me and I love being there.  The kids are awesome but as you can imagine class sizes of 50-85 kids for one teacher is alot.  I do my best to support Mr. Rice and try to make sure that no student falls thru the cracks of the system.  Most of the money I'm raisng is simply to reimburse me for my expenses like gas, musical instruments I provide, new strings, running errands, and help pay my bills so I can continue to help.  I have a home and things have been hard financially but God has always provided and I have faith that God has put it on my heart to start this campaign.   I want to use these funds to help other parents whose children want to be in chorus or orchestra or go on a field trip but they don't get the opportunity because of finances.  I've been that parent and just want to give back alittle.   The funds I raise would mean that I would be able to not only continue my volunteer work with Mr. Rice but help take some of the weight off and be another adult who can help, listen, and share my gifts with the students in the chorus and orchestra. I hope you will give and help.  I ask for prayers and thank you for anything you can contribute. Please be an Angel to the students of MCMS and to me.
