This is Miley. Miley is strong, smart and beautiful. Miley has had trauma and needs our help. This is Miley's story:
Miley is an awesome 7 year old girl. Miley likes to sing and dance. She likes to play legos and loves to swim. Miley can do most things your average 7 year old can do. Except feel love, safety and security. Miley came to me at age 3 as a foster kid. She was placed into care at age 2 and due to her high emotional needs was moved home to home a few times before coming to me, where she was adopted at age four. She suffers from Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), which is a rare but serious mental condition that develops in kids who experience significant trauma between the ages of birth and 3 years old. This results in an inability to understand love, safety and security. These children are hypervigilant and incapable of trusting and bonding to a caregiver, which causes them to have very serious emotional regulation conditions. Miley has heard voices telling her to kill me and detailing the steps of how to do it. Miley bangs her head on walls to stop them. She has started to hurt animals in an effort to keep herself from hurting me. Her heart tells her no, but her brain tells her that family=danger. Miley was accepted into the Institute for Attachment and Child Development in Colorado. I am bringing her there on Monday. Because insurance covers a very miniscule amount, the total after insurance and her adoption subsidy leaves me with a $4000/month obligation. I am determined get this care for her to save my family, and if you can help in any way, you will have my eternal gratitude. She needs the institute to help her understand love.
