Mike is a loving husband to Beth, and a caring father to Jordan Callie and Braden. Anyone who knows Mike can see that he dedicates his life to working with and helping others. He has been a beloved and active coach for many years in various Youth Sports Programs including softball and hockey. Mike is not only a role-model and mentor but a devoted friend. He is an active member of his community, always cheering on school sports teams and rooting for success.
Originally hailing from Buffalo, NY, Mike Podkladek served dutifully from 1983 - 1993 with the United States Air Force. After that he became a dedicated employee of the New York State Thruway, a career that has taken him from the NY Division as a Toll Collector all the way to Radio Dispatcher at Headquarters in Albany.
Late September of 2016, Mike was diagnosed with brain cancer. This diagnosis put him out of work, but never out of the fight. Mike is many things: a father, husband, uncle, son, mentor, coach, avid sports fan, veteran. But one thing Mike is not, and will never be, is a quitter.
