In 2005 after living a relatively healthy life, my doctor informed me that he was concerned with my kidney function. After seeing a kidney specialist for a number of years to monitor my kidney function, my doctor came to me and said that in two years I'd probably need a kidney transplant. This news sent my world into a spiral.

While preparing me to be placed on the kidney transplant waiting list, the doctors discovered a mass on my right kidney that required me to undergo a radical nephrectomy of that kidney. This subsequently caused me to now have to receive hemo dialysis treatments three times a week. In preparing my family and I for what life after a transplant would look like, the social worker and financial coordinator at the kidney center informed us that after a successful kidney transplant I would then have to go on several immuno suppressant medications to avoid my body from rejecting the new kidney. This medication would have to be taken for the rest of my life. They further explained that even with insurance coverage, the out-of-pocket co-pays can be quite extensive. When asked what were we looking at, one advisor suggested out-of-pocket expenses could reach as much as $1500 per month if not more.

We are seeking support from those who would like to help with the cost of maintaining my health by ensuring we can cover the cost of the medication. Your donation will be truly appreciated and will be managed by our daughter Brittany who works in banking. Additionally, your donation will be used solely for expenses associated with my kidney transplant and related medication and treatments.

Whether you choose to support or not, we thank you for your continued prayers and kindness. And as scripture states - we wish above all that YOU be in good health even as your soul prospers.

All our love,
~Mike & Myra
