Mason's NICU Journey
Elisha + Chris Hutchins welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Mason, into the world much earlier than they anticipated. He was born at 26 weeks, weighing in at 2.2 pounds. But boy is he strong.
He's spent the last few weeks under the amazing care of the doctors and nurses at the Virtua NICU. As of recently - Mason needed to be transferred to Childrens Hospital of Pennsylvania for further evaluation. The staff at CHOP are among the best in the world - so we know he's in great hands.
There are many expenses while a child is in the NICU - which are covered by the insurance company. But what isn't covered are the expenses that will burden Elisha & Chris. Things that don't seem like big expenses sure can add up quickly: Gas, Tolls, Food, Hotel Rooms, etc. It's estimated that it costs NICU parents about $400 a week to travel back and forth to be with their child.
Any unused money will be donated to the NICUs that cared so well for Mason over the long road ahead. We want to try to raise the money as quickly as we can, since Mason has already been transferred.
This little boy already has so many people that care about him. From his loving grandparents, to his amazing aunts and uncles, to the friends of the family that are always there. Chris & Elisha are two of the most giving people I've ever met. They constantly open their home to people - no matter what the situation.
Let's give them all the help that we can in this difficult, but happy time in their lives. We will all be forever grateful for any amount you can donate.
