Midwifery Elective Uganda Placement
Donation protected
Hi my name is Jessica, I'm a second year student midwife at the University of the West of England. I have already had the privilege of being part of over 13 families birthing experiences as a first year student midwife.
My third year includes a once in a life time opportunity to undertake an elective placement abroad. I would very much like to travel to the developing world (Uganda being my main choice at the moment) to gain valuable experience and insight into other midwifery cultures and practices. I believe this will enhance my holistic and woman centred care ethos; developing skills and attributes I have learnt while in University and placement.
As this placement is self funded I would really appreciate financial help from the wider population on this popular funding platform. Something that would not have been possible a few years ago. As a struggling student my maintenance loan and weekend job just about covers my living expenses with little opportunity to save such a sum of money. I personally will be trying to save as much as possible over the next year. I realise this incredible venture is over a year away but with such a demanding year ahead of me; I thought I'd try and be organised!
I understand this is a lot to ask from friends, family and strangers but I sincerely thank you and appreciate any help you can give.
