This gofundme campaign was originally for help with Mickie Elliott's 2016 tour fees, but is now being used for financial assistance for helping through tour!
I have recently ran into some medical issues in February (please contact me if you would like me to go into detail), and the costs of doctors visits and medical bills are hindering my ability to go on the road and get through the summer without trouble!
Hello! My name is Mickie Elliott, and my life revolves around the marching arts. I am born and raised in Metro Atlanta, Georgia, I am nineteen years old, and I love performing more than anything. I found color guard to be my performance medium when I was in the sixth grade!
I started my color guard in 2008 when I joined the Walton High School Jr. Raider Winter Guard. The season introduced me to the color guard performance world - watching high schoolers and young adults performing their hearts out, doing such a unique activity really drew me in. I wanted more.
Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to do another season of Jr. Winter Guard in my middle school career, but continued taking dance classes at my local dance studio.
In the eighth grade, the high school winter guard came to Dickerson Middle School to do a performance of their show. It was an elegant show about Marie Antoinette... the opportunity to join this activity presented itself to me again.
I then learned about summer/fall color guard when I audition for the Walton High School Color Guard and Dance Company in 2010. I was offered a spot, and spent 2010-2014 in their program, for eight fall and winter guard seasons. I performed on 'Cloud Nine', to being an evil and mysterious 'Jill' from Jack and Jill. I was taught by multiple talented staff members, all who had started their color guard careers in high school, and continued on to do independent careers in drum and bugle corps and winter guard. This fundraiser is for my participation in the 2016 season with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, a world-class competitive drum corps that competes in the Drum Corps International circuit.

This year, I have been offered my third contract to march with the Spirit of Atlanta Color Guard, also known as the Delta Diamonds. I fell in love with this drum corps in high school, and dreamed of auditioning and participating once I graduated. I had the opportunity to do that in 2014, and 2015.
2016 is Spirit of Atlanta's 40th Anniversary. Our drum corps has been through some hardships in the last few seasons, but due to some changes, a strong alumni association, and fundraising- 2016 Spirit will not dissapoint!
Our show this season is titled "Georgia", which is a love story. I have luckily been cast as a very important role of the production, I would love for you to see!
I am hoping to march with the Spirit of Atlanta color guard again for the 2016 season! Please consider helping me out in marching this summer with this amazing organization. Any assistance is grately appreciated.
