After 6 months of traveling across the world, I figured it was about time to settle back into living in my own country. But, not exactly a place I currently call home...
After much prayer I thoroughly believe God has placed a desire on my heart to move on with my schooling through YWAM. I’ve been accepted into a 3 month School of Worship located in Arvada Colorado!
Why SOW?
DTS challenged me to the core of my being. To say it rocked me in my faith is an understatement. It helped me to grow in my relationship with God and to understand what it looks like to be a true follower of Christ. I believe SOW will take me even further.
Throughout my life, music has always helped me to regain focus from distractions and to look to the Maker of the Universe for a fresh perspective on life and it's purposes. After 11 years of piano lessons, and singing in church choir my entire life, I thought the only option for me was to either pursue music ed, or performance being that those are really the only things the world has to offer. My perfectionism brought me to a place where I began to grow burnt out and my passion for music seemingly began to dwindle. After being accepted into the Aaron Copland School of Music, I began to see all of this in my life and reached a point where I even contemplated giving up music altogether. Thus, I dropped out of the music program and started to pursue a degree in something else.
One main byproduct of DTS was that I was challenged in the meaning of what it is to be a true follower and disciple of Christ. This means devoting all passions, and talents back into the Creator's hands.
Over the past year, I have strongly felt a calling from the Lord to take my musical abilities even further and to place them on the alter for Him to use in ministry.
We are called as children of God to also be worshipers of Him. I want to be able to utilize my skills as a musician and bring them to the next level in bringing honor and glory to God. This also means simultaneously yielding myself to Him in being a vessel and pouring out onto others.
What is a SOW?
Similar to DTS, SOW has a lecture phase that will last for 13 weeks. Teachers from all over the world will travel to the base to speak on different topics each week. We will be plugged into small groups where we will be able to go deeper into our relationships with other students and with God.
As YWAM Denver puts it: “School of Worship equips you to be a worshiper who is rooted in the Word and led by the Spirit. Our desire is to equip worshipers that worship the Lord in Spirit and truth. In the School of Worship, students will be given opportunities to lead worship, write songs, and gain a Biblical understanding of worship.”
What am I raising money for?
The school itself costs $4,295 but I’m also looking to cover travel expenses.
What happens after?
There are two options:
-Outreach, or Internship
Outreach is not part of Secondary Schools, but students can apply to go to certain outreaches with other DTS students. Some Secondary Schools offer an internship so everything that was learned during lecture phase can be applied immediately.
After my last school with YWAM, I fully recognize that money is but a number, and trust that all things are possible when God wills something to take place. Thank you so much for your prayer and your support!!!
