Bring Michelle Serrano Home

The Tragedy:

On October 16th, 2014, we the Serrano family suffered a terrible tragedy. My wife of 18 yrs. (Michelle Serrano) had a massive stroke. This stroke could have been avoided if my wife was diagnosed on time.

The stroke left my wife paralyzed on the right side, unable to talk and communicate verbally or even through gestures. A part of her skull was removed and has still not been replaced. She now has a tracheotomy in her throat, and feeding tube in her stomach.

This stroke left her family me, (her husband),28yrs,  2 minor children 14yrs and 9yrs, 2 adopted children 16yrs and 17yrs, and one grandchild 9 months old without the nurturing and loving care of a wife, mother and grandmother.

Now I (Kurt Serrano) am the sole parent with 4 children, working two jobs to try to make ends meet and taking care of my wife, who since the stroke has been in the nursing home.

The ContinuingTragedy:

In the nursing home my wife is being mistreated; sores on her head, infections on her neck from soiled unclean bandages and bed sores on her back, bandages that aren’t changed frequently, and sometimes soiled diaper that stay on her for as long as 45 mins. The situation has now gotten even worse.

For the last year and 2 month, the children have paid frequent visits to their mother after school; they are now “NOT” being permitted (by the nursing home) any visits to their mother without an adult present.

Barring my children from visiting their mother is a recent development by the nursing home; citing “they are minors and they need adult supervision in order to visit their mother".

A few weeks ago, my 14 yrs old daughter went to visit her mother in the nursing home and found her on the floor. Only GOD knows how long my wife was lying on the floor (after falling off the bed). This is not the first incident where my wife was found on the floor at this nursing home.

My 14 yr old daughter was the worst person to have found my wife on the floor because my daughter has been dealing with issues of depression since her mother’s stroke. With the aid of professional help, after school activities and learning crafts, my daughter is working feverishly on being freed of this condition of depression.

This very recent and new decision by the nursing home of denying/limiting my children access to their mother is not helping my wife’s rehab or my family deal with this tragedy.

I’m now reaching out for financial help to help my family bring my wife Michelle Serrano home. The money is needed for medical evaluations for stem cell therapy treatment and other in home preparations e.g. medical equipment and private ongoing care far beyond the coverage of the insurance benefits, required to bring Michelle home.

I realize that the nursing home does not care about the well being of my wife or their other patients, only the $1200 a night it cost for the uses of their beds, not including nursing care and medication.

My wife needs physical therapy which she has not and continues not to receive at this facility, although I am certain the Nursing home is being paid for the therapeutic treatment of my wife.

I try to visit my wife daily but due to the time I get to the nursing home it is far too late for my children to visit their mother with me.  I’m working two jobs in efforts of keeping my family together and bringing my wife home. If anyone can find it in their hearts to help my family and I, we are deeply appreciative.
