Michelle and Ben Blaire were estactic to learn that they were expecting their third child in the summer of 2017! After welcoming two beautiful baby boys to the world, they learned baby #3 is a baby girl, Caroline Faith, what joy!
The journey took an unexpected turn with a phone call on February 6th, with words no expectant mother wants to hear. "Your ultrasounds was abnormal and we need to send you to a specialist." After many tests, the Blaire's were told their baby girl has hydrocephalus as a result of a spina bifida defect in her low back. The journey has involved many specialists and after much research, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and their wonderful physicians have answered the Blaire's prayers. Caroline will need "in utero (in the womb) surgery" which is now scheduled for March 16, 2017.
Following the surgery Michelle must relocate to Cincinnati, remaining on bed rest for weekly monitoring until delivery. While Michelle is on bed rest in Cincinnati, Ben and their two boys will travel to and from home for visits, the drive is over 5 hours one way.
Michelle is a vibrant young woman who has dedicated her life to helping others. Michelle is a physical therapist and works hard to help others recover and return to the best quality of life they can. She is the pillar for her family and incredibly active in her church and community. As increidble and blessed as Michelle has been in life, we all have our times of need.
Michelle will be unable to return to work for quite some time, and there is a strong possibility she may lose her job and her benefits. With the possibility of losing medical insurance coverage and the reality of out of pocket expenses such as fuel, time away from work/without work, lodging, medications, hospital costs and undoubltly other unforeseen costs, the financial burden is heavy on their minds. With all that, their hearts are full of hope! This journey is God's will and they will continue to walk in faith.
