Michah's Mission

Donation protected
This is for my 3 month old grandson, Michah Jameson Witt, that was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma a few weeks ago.  He is a loving, bubbly, handsome and strong baby boy.  My name is Karen Phillips (his grandma) and felt I needed to share his story, so I asked his mom to write their story.

This is Michah's story told by his mom, Holly Witt:

"Cancer is a word you think you will never hear from your child's doctor.  On March 28, 2016 our world stopped. It was hard to breathe when our pediatrician told us that Michah's eye was reflecting a white glow.  We didn't know what this glow even meant before we looked into the possibilities.  We understood worse case scenario would be a rare eye cancer in children called Retinoblastoma.  Over the next 2 days, we would see 2 other eye specialists.  Both specialists diagnosed Michah with Retinoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer of the retina.  Dr. Harper in Austin, TX referred us to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee."

"Once we arrived in Tennessee, Michah was evaluated and sedated for an MRI and EUA (Exam under anesthesia).  The results were confirmed: he could have his eye removed OR he could do 6 rounds of chemotherapy to contain the cancer and try to save his eye.  No parent should have such a terrible choice and hard decision to make, but we are blessed because not all parents get choices when it comes to this terrible disease."

"We prayed and prayed for the wisdom to make this gut-wrenching decision.  Michah and I (Mom) will be residents of Memphis for the remainder of his chemotherapy treatments which will be for at least the next 6 - 9 months.  We understand this will be  a struggle for not only baby Michah, but also for our other 2 children, Brayden (7 yrs ) and Paisley (5 yrs).  So while I  will be in Memphis with Michah;  Michael (Dad) will be home in Texas with Brayden and Paisley.  Although he will be traveling back and forth from Texas to Tennessee throughout the whole process."

The funds being raised will be for any medical expenses not covered, traveling expenses, time off from work for Mom/Dad during Michah's treatments and any other unforseen financial situations they may encounter.  So let's join together and support this beautiful and loving family.  Any amount no matter the size will be greatly appreciated.  Support not only comes through funds you are donating, but through your prayers too.  There is power in prayer!

Michah is a precious baby and deserves to live a  healthy and happy life.
