Help me save Michael's leg

Donation protected
In May of 2016, a wonderful hairy baby came into my life. He was rescued from Syria and brought to the local SPCA. Given his behavior and injuries, I believe he was involved in a combat zone. He shows signs of PTSD and a fear of the dark (pretty weird for a dog!). He had these issues, but I quickly discovered how wonderful he is. He never fights with other dogs, he actually runs from strange cats and avoids squirrels, he loves a good stick or ball, and man, does he love to wrestle in the dirt!

When he's at the local dog park, everyone knows he will be the life of the party. He is the dog people wish they had for his energy, optimism and great social skills with all species.

Also in May, this baby (now named Michael) broke his leg, adding to his other fractures from before they found him.  We thought it was a one-off (the old breaks may have been from being hit by a car), but I recently learned Michael is genetically predisposed to breaks. Just yesterday, he broke his arm clean in half and requires surgery to install a plate. The surgical cost is $4000, and he will then be in physical therapy for a few months. We hope to have him in surgery by Tuesday the 6th or Wednesday the 7th to minimize the time he's dealing with this.

Unfortunately, I don't have the funds available for him, so I'm being told I should amputate his leg or simply surrender him. To do so would be to betray the trust of my child - because this dog is my child by now. I would do anything for him, and that 'anything' includes setting up a GoFundMe. This tells you something about me the owner. I don't want to seem needy, and I don't want to hurt my pride by asking for money. But you know what? With my baby in such incredible pain and no other way to gain funding, my pride means nothing. It's all about making him better no matter what.

With your donation, you should know that Michael will be that much closer to reconstructive surgery and a normal life once more. In addition, you will be in MY debt, which means that I will assist you in the future. I don't believe in taking and leaving; for your help, you receive not only my thanks but my eternal debt if you ever need a ride, a meal, some money for your pet. This guy means that much to me and everyone who knows him. He's worth it.
