Hi, my name is Debbie McGarry. In February of this year, a very good friend of mine, Michael Morelli had a major stroke. He was left paralyzed on the right side, unable to stand or walk or speak.
In this short time he has made wonderful progress and is able to stand and walk slowly with assistance and a cane. He is able to speak a few words and understands what’s going on with his body and his life. Michael is working with physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
Michael’s daughter, Eve, flew home from Hawaii and has become his full-time caregiver. Eve is an only child and has stepped up and taken responsibility for her dads care. She is an amazing woman and I, along with all their close friends love and respect her. Eve is unable to work at this time because her father needs 24/7 care.
THEY NEED ASSISTANCE!!
At this time, they have a small car and are having a very hard time getting him in and out of the vehicle. They need something more handicapped accessible and an electric scooter could be such a blessing! Eve also needs relief. As any of you know it can be so exhausting to take care of and have total responsibility for someone else 24/7. They need to be able to hire other caregivers. One person cannot do this, it takes a village!
Michael is on Social Security and although Medicare is helping with some of the costs, there is still a lot of out-of-pocket costs. I know there are a lot people who love and appreciate Michael and would welcome the opportunity to help.
