LET'S HELP MICHAEL LOUVIERE'S KIDS

Donation protected
Hello everyone and welcome to Michael Louviere's Go Fund Me page.
These funds are in control of the Westwego Police Benevolent Association. 100% of funds collected will be given to Officer Louviere's wife and kids.

I am Reese d’Aquin, CEO and co-founder of Flying Home Productions LLC. In my professional career, I've been blessed with the privilege of working with The Department of Defense, The Walt Disney company, Fox Racing (a leader in motocross technology); and just recently, I accepted the role of Executive VP of Video Productions for the MultiGP Drone Racing League.

I am many miles from the tragedy that occurred early yesterday morning involving one of my childhood best friends, Michael Louviere, but I'm hoping that my story will touch the hearts of the world.

I grew up in Marrero, LA, on the corner of Barataria Blvd and Woodcrest Dr. It was here where Michael (aka "The Miz") and all our neighborhood friends would meet up to skateboard and jump BMX ramps. We called ourselves ATP ("all that pedaling”). It was quite funny because there is a traffic light next to my house that provided us with a captive audience every 5 minutes. Of course, everyone on the road waited for the inevitable bike crash. As I recall, The Miz was the only person to be moderately injured at ATP; a broken color bone. Sorry Mrs. Pam and Mr. Randy.

Every day after school, The Miz, Joshua Hunter (aka Punkin), Chris Marse and a few others would meet up at my house and we would ride till the last bit of light was left in the sky. Throughout the years, we progressively grew competitive in our riding and began filming ourselves. First I'd set up my brother and sister behind a shield of plywood near the landing ramp; and when we were on skate boards, The Miz and I would take turns filming each other's progression. A kick flip here, a 4-set there. And as I began to use a video camera more and more, I unknowingly developed the foundation of my very purpose in life. Throughout the years of filming and the years of broken skateboards, I decided to try my hand at editing. Let me just say, it was a rough start. (https://youtu.be/sCx-PVYuwl8) However, that too, became a big part of my success in life. After Hurricane Katrina hit, I was forced to relocate to the same school as Michael. It was my senior year. There, our bond grew even stronger as we both shared a passion for skateboarding, which was our form of creative expression and freedom that took us away from the trials and travesty that were surrounding us on a daily basis. We later released a video part called “ATS II” (“all that skating”) which documents this moment in time. It was a big deal choosing to move away from home for college that year and I knew that my crew would struggle with losing the home base that we all shared for so long. That decision was one of the more difficult moments that a kid my age goes through. I knew it wouldn't keep us out of touch though, as we would meet together on some weekends when I would return from college, and we would party more in the night clubs of New Orleans. It was a wild time back then and we seemed to make it a ritual when I returned. “Oh, Reese is back from college? Get the crew, get the beer, and let's party at the home base.” It got so wild sometimes that I had to literally turn folks away because I didn't know who they were. We would skate, have his friends come play-live musicians in my garage, jump off the roof into my pool, and we never feared the what-ifs.

Mike made the bold decision to join the military. He served his country, toured in Afghanistan, and even married his hometown girl! He quickly became the most grown up, successful individual in ATP. He would call me up from time to time, to talk about the crazy party scene in Cali. We'd continue to stay in touch. He went off to war and served for our country as a Marine. I remember he was having issues with finding a job after his service. But as Michael always did, he worked his way through it, and found a way to bounce back stronger than ever. He found the Lord. HE made success of his struggles and challenges, yet again.

I still remember the day when he said he was moving back to Louisiana - I was filled with joy. I remember meeting up with him and Ashley in Marrero for the first time, just to talk about the good ol' days.
He would try his hand at a number of failing careers, like this one time he tried to sell me lawyer services. And in turn, I gave him all my friends phone numbers to call. Lol they weren't too happy with me. He later found his calling, as a Westwego Police Officer.

The last time I remember catching up with The Miz was when he brought the family to a wedding at Disney and I drove to Downtown Disney to meet up with him. I got to hold hands with their daughter and remember him saying "no no honey, you're too young to be looking for a boy and you should be scared of strangers."

I wouldn't know that would be our last encounter.

He leaves behind a beautiful family. A wife, Ashley, and two young children. Please do what you can to help them by donating and sharing this link.

Michael, The Miz, died while trying to help others. The least we can do is to help care for and educate his children, to repay him for the way he cared for and helped our community; and our nation.
Please hug your love ones, and better yet, hug a stranger.
