Micah Wendell Gilbert was 16 yrs old when he died tragically in a crash on Thursday night, December 7th, 2017. He attended Concordia Lutheran High School and was traveling home from basketball practice when he lost control of his vehicle on a wet roadway; spinning into the oncoming lane of traffic before being struck by another car. He was lifeflighted to Memorial Hermann before he passed. He is survived by his younger brother Caleb, and his parents, Wendell and Denise.
Micah was full of life; brightening a room with his presence. He had a heart of gold and loved everyone he came in contact with. Whenever you were downhearted, he had a way of making you laugh and forgetting about life's trials. His smile was contagious and what a fine man he was becoming.
"Oh how I wish you were here to tell me one of your jokes, sweet boy."
Now with only one child left, his parents are having to bury their oldest child. Because of the high cost of medical expenses, both from the lifeflight and hospital, his family is requesting some help on their behalf. Most importantly, the family has received an outpouring of prayers and support during this difficult time and will need more prayer in the days and years to come. Our only consolement is that he knew his Lord and Savior and we will someday see him again.
"The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Romans 8:16-18
