Jamiah's Medical Fund

Donation protected
My name is Sharon Okra-Goll and I have had the pleasure of being an active part, in the life, of one of the most beautiful souls that I know...

My 23 year-old niece, Jamiah Holmes (aka Miah or MeeMee) was recently diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Yes, at 23 years of age her kidneys inexplicable went from good functioning to poor functioning to chronic kidney disease to ESRD...with little to no warning. She went from being a happy care free young adult, to fighting for her life. The doctors could not believe the rapid progression of her disease and kept her in the hospital for 2+ weeks.

Jamiah is like most young adults and has not had the opportunity to build her financial security. She has accumulated tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills and is currently awaiting a kidney transplant. She has the responsibility of doing in-home dialysis every night (hooked to a machine for a minimum of 7 hours a night), has a strict renal diet, and cannot strain or lift anything over 25 pounds. To say that ESRD has been a life changer is an understatement.

Any and all donations will be immediately put to use to help pay for reliable transportation, start a payment plan for medical bills, and help pay the costs of medications that she will be on for the rest of her life. Future funds will be put towards Jamiah's goal of going back to school and finishing her degree.

My MeeMee. I would give my life for her. I was one of the first people to fill out donor transplant paperwork. Unfortunately, I did not get past the first stage. I cannot imagine my life without her. I cannot imagine this world without her. It would mean so much to her, my family, and myself, if we could reach our goal and beyond.

I have served my country, paid it forward, donated, tutored, mentored, and dedicated my life to the human services career field. My family is a proud family. We do not ask for much. I am asking for this. Please give what you can so that my niece will have a fighting chance at life. She will be forever grateful. I will be forever grateful. We will be forever grateful. Words cannot express how thankful we will be for any amount that is donated towards our goal. Thank you
