Handicap Van needed
Extremely rare disease has robbed my mothers mobility and her way of life.
My mother has come down with a very rare neurological disease called Superficial Siderosis . It is so rare, with no cure, and only 1 in 3 million people have this devastating condition. Very little is known about this disease. It is a rare and insidious cause of progressive neurological deterioration.
Symptoms include:
Loss of full body movement (cerebellar ataxia).
Bilateral Sensorineural Deafness (hearing aids do not work).
Severe gait impairment. (loss of balance.)
Nystahmus (involuntary eye movement).
Paraparesis Hypereflexia (paralysis of lower extremities).
She was diagnosed 4 years ago and has every symptom. She is now totally deaf and confined to a wheelchair. But her desire to live, experience life, and spend time with her family is still as strong as ever.
At 73 though, she does not have the body strength, or use of her legs, to help move herself from the wheelchair to the car. Her caregiver, who is my Dad, is not strong enough either. Transportation has become a burden, and my Mom is unable to leave her home.
These funds will help provide my dear Mom a handicap van with ramp. She will then be able to finally leave her home and experience life once again. My sisters wedding is in March, please help her attend.
Thank you and God Bless.
