Peru Mission Trip

Friends and family,
It is with great joy and pleasure that I come to you having been offered the opportunity to join my sister and her church, First Baptist Church of Rome on a 9 day mission trip to Lima, Peru this October! The FBC Rome team we will be travelling with is made up of ministers, educators, doctors, & dentists. We will be working with Operacion San Andres in Collique, Peru, a faith-based non-governmental organization committed to combating the effects of poverty in the community of Collique, Peru in a holistic (spiritual, emotional, and physical) and sustainable manner by demonstrating the love of Christ in practical ways. As most of you know, I am an Early Childhood Education major and am ecstatic to share that while in Peru, I will be part of a week-long Vacation Bible School for children ages 6 through 11.  Bible stories, crafts, games, drama, and singing are the main components of the Bible School.  These activities are planned and directed by clergy and lay mission team participants from the USA with vital assistance from local Spanish speaking individuals. After Vacation Bible School is complete each day, we will go over to the medical clinic and help with check-in & filing for the remainder of the afternoon. 

This is my first ever international trip, and I am overjoyed to be able to say it's to share God's work, love, and grace as well as seeing it and experiencing it myself somewhere other than the streets I walk daily, and with people with stories so much different than mine. In preparation for the trip, I plan to invest in a program that will help me become more educated and informed on the language and culture experienced in these areas. While this is an incredible opportunity and I am so blessed to be going on this trip, I cannot do so alone. I have raised and saved money for this trip, but still need $2,500 to help cover my flight and where we will be staying in Lima, Peru. Even if you cannot give financially, prayers and encouraging words go just as far and I am immensely grateful!
