Building a Medical Clinic in Haiti

Tax deductible
3 years ago when I started Mending Hearts Abroad I was just a junior in college wanting to make an impact in people's lives living in extreme poverty. I would have never imagined MHA could impact so many lives in such a short period of time.

Seeing the living conditions and extreme poverty in the rural countryside of Haiti has made a lasting impact on my life. Many of the residents in rural Haiti have little to no access to healthcare due to their impoverished state; many of which live off of less than $1.50 per day. Healthcare should be a right for all, not a socioeconomic privilege.

Below is a picture of Mending Hearts Abroad's first patient seen in Haiti. She suffered from severe dehydration and diarrhea. Unfortunately, due to our limited medical resources and our geographic isolation, we weren't able to properly treat her and she passed away in our clinic. Since that day I knew Mending Hearts Abroad had to do more. We needed to bring better primary care to rural Haiti year-round.

Mending Hearts Abroad is a non-profit that has provided medical help to those in Haiti since 2014. Nearly 2,000 Haitians have received medical care, and over 6,000 free medications have been provided by Mending Hearts Abroad via trips and mobile clinics.

Mending Hearts Abroad’s vision is to build a clinic in Salagnac, Haiti to serve more families and impact more lives.

Salganac is a subsistence farming community meaning many of the farmers rely on their harvest for most of their dietary intake and live in extreme poverty. The nearest hospital is ran by the government and has unaffordable costs for the people.

Mending Hearts Abroad would like to have a self-sustaining clinic that provides medical services free of charge. MHA’s vision for the clinic includes hiring Haitian pharmacists, nurses, doctors, etc. The clinic will be ran by Haitians, for Haitians.

Mending Hearts Abroad has secured 35 acres of Land to build a large clinic with the capacity to expand.

Go Fund Me takes a percentage of the campaign so we are asking for $50,000 to cover the cost of the land’s down-payment.

100% of these proceeds will go towards the land purchase & is tax deducatble.
