Mending Hearts Charities Inc was formed in the year 2000, to provide affordable housing to low-income families, disabled individuals, and the elderly. For the past 15 years, we have run our organization with volunteers and donated materials. Together we have changed the lives of over 600 families to date. Today we have 68 families living in our rentals, with a total of 29 children.
For the past 15 years we have fought Orange County in regards to property tax exemption status for the not for profit. We lost the argument regarding infrastructure charges and therefore they are now due and payable with our current tax bills. To date we have over 175,000 in outstanding bills due the county.
We cannot raise the rents to our clients for the increase tax bills; we are already charging more than 50% of their current income for rent. We need your help in raising this money so that our families can stay in their home, and their children can remain in their current school. Stability is important for becoming successful students and adults.
It’s important that families and their children remain stable, have a nice place to live in a community that is safe. Our parents, grandparents and children will now be able to focus on becoming productive adults knowing the tax bills are current.
