Cuco del Cid Memorial Scholarship

On January 6th, 2018 we lost our beloved Maestro Refugio "Cuco" del Cid who was a respected and well known mariachi instructor, friend, mentor, father, grandfather, brother, and husband. In honor of him, his past and present Mariachi Los Diablitos de Sunnyside High School students would like to keep his memory, and the legacy he left within all of us, alive by starting a scholarship fund for the Mariachi Los Diablitos de Sunnyside High School graduates.
The scholarship fund will officially be named the
"Cuco del Cid Memorial Scholarship"
Details regarding the scholarship are listed below.
Scholarship Information: Dollars for Scholars Information: Daniel Dong has been elected the Sponsor. The Sponsor is responsible for the paperwork and leg work putting the scholarship together. The scholarship won’t be available for students this year because the deadline was last February. Irma has agreed to donate $1000 towards the scholarship. It was agreed to call the scholarship, the “Cuco del Cid Memorial Scholarship.” It was also agreed to award $250 for 2 students every year that the funds are available. The students would have to have a 3.0 high school GPA and be enrolled full time (minimum 12.0) towards an accredited college. The scholarship will be awarded to mariachi students that have graduatedfrom Sunnyside High School. It was decided that Sunnyside District Alumni Association will decide who receives the scholarship as an all inclusive committee (impartial 3rd party), in order to avoid favoritism from the Sponsor. Students must submit an essay about their goals and why they should be selected.
