Ginger Long lost her battle to Scleroderma after more than 20 years of fighting.
Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Generally it causes circulation issues that negatively effect the entire body.
When Ginger was first diagnosed in 1998 to the relatively unknown disease, they didn't know much about it and said she had around 10 years to live. She beat the odds and fought hard to overcome this terrible disease, never letting it crush her spirit.
She was a great daughter, mother, and friend. Always optimistic and positive. Ginger loved making crafts and was very artistic. She loved making these elaborate birdhouses made of natural bark and curly willow. If you ever had the pleasure of seeing one you would surly think 'this is the best birdhouse ever made!'. She would sew extravagant quilts and loved to bead necklaces and all sorts of trinkets. She loved to garden and had quite the green thumb, her tomatoes and green beans would rival a county fair in Iowa. She collected frogs to the point her kids would yell "NO MORE FROGS!". At one point we literally counted 400 frogs. Her kindness knew no bounds, even if she was struggling she always went out of her way to help the people she cared about. Everyone who met Ginger would say how much of an amazing, strong women she was.
She is survived by two children, Zak Daboll and Arin Long, as well as a mischievous cat named Rocky. The funds will go to the memorial costs and other expenses.
