What we've been up to this week! Meme News got word of some revolutionary activists IN Spokane And we came to show our support last night for #CampHope and help share their voice.

Here's what we thought:

Some of the livestreams from the meeting last night are on our Meme News Twitter page. (memenewsug)

We found the #CampHopeProtest event link via facebook and when I realized it was less than two hours away, I was like, okay I have to go there and film them and see how I can help share their message.

Camp Hope refers to the movement of citizens advocating for the homeless community in Spokane, Wa. There are specific things that I look for in any grassroots movement or cause.

I want to briefly go over some of the factors that really make me want to dedicate time each week to help #CampHope.

As you know, It seems more of a pastime of mine calling out fake protests and people who have Trump Syndrome.

I really want to also make my primary focus helping the voices that really do need lifted.

We are not only about calling out the frauds, it's about balance.

I also really want to help others and share their voices because that is how we take our power back.

Not just by helping each other, but also uniting and finding issues that matter. Working to improve our lives through those direct actions and movements will empower and enlighten others to do the same.

I really want to give a shout out to the people I heard speaking about #CampHOpe and how they really know the issues going on in the homeless community in Spokane.

Many of them have either lived as a homeless person, is currently homeless, or knows people who are.

One consistent theme tonight was people acknowledging that life for the homeless in Spokane is becoming more and more difficult.

Businesses such as property management companies do have discriminatory policies or actions.

One activist mentioned that the rents locally are so high, and often times the deposit on apartments are sky high and these high costs will actively lengthen the time they are on the street and prevent them from getting help sooner.

Another activist mentioned that it's significantly harder for those not born into households with even middle class wealth then it's so much harder if not almost impossible to reach middle class on their own accord.

This really touched me personally because I myself was born into a family with an extremely low income and we relied on the help of friends to feed us at times.

I really advocate for people to join this movement and follow their page and keep up with what they are currently doing because we need to be protecting each other and what these activists are fighting for now could be fought for in every city that has a homeless community.

One major reason for the Camp Hope protest is due to the "sit and lie" laws that have made the lives of the homeless very difficult to say the least.

This town has been ticketing people for essentially being homeless. They think ticketing these people will deter them from their "safe space" and I personally think it's inhumane.

As of tonight, If I am not mistaken I believe the sit and lie law is "on hold' at least until efficient beds/shelter are provided for those who just didn't make the cut for first come, first serve.

It seems there are several shelters in Spokane that serve specific purposes. There really is no "one size fits all" when it comes to the homeless community. Some facilities have showers for some and the overall consensus tonight was they need more shelters, places for people to go when they are kicked out of one building during specific hours.

This is something that anybody in their community can do. Find out what the issues are and take them to these meetings and document it and lay out the facts.

Please follow #CampHope events and if you live too far, use their videos and direct actions to make a difference locally. One love!

Ps. I will be uploading footage from tonight and interviews over the next few days! I am sorry for the shaky footage. My tripod broke literally between the car and the first interview so after a few hours these arthritic hands were weak! lol

Protest plans are going so well! We have tripled our weekly views! Which is very promising. We've also had a lot more volunteers step up to share and promote for us! All the support has been so appreciated and I believe we are really going to make a big impact by November! I'm starting to speak with a few people about getting other cities involved so stay tuned for information on that! Thanks again everyone who supports us and please expect paid agitators on our social media pages. We've had a lot of "#dementers" try to infiltrate the protest committee as well as hundreds of paid online harassers flooding our event page and posts with anti-trump memes. If you see this happening, it's best not to engage these people are only meant to distract and agitate. Don't let them do either of those things! #SeeyouonDC

Hey, everyone! I have had a lot of questions about #MemeNews and many people wanting to get involved with politics! I want those people to know this is the place for you! True progressives are getting organized and working together and I want to help as many people as we can! Let this page & my page @RealSarahFreels be your progressive bulletin board! We are all in this for the long haul and #MemeNews is going to build our platform and raise our voices!
I hope these memes clarify your questions and be sure to comment below! Let me know how we can grow #MemeNews on a larger scale! I am currently moving my website ( www.SarahFreels.com) to Wordpress so, for now, you can see my page here:
Don't have the time to participate but want to support grassroots news? Please donate! We appreciate every dollar and with our new YouTube channel, money has been tight!
What donations pay for:
•FB post promotions (it's expensive but necessary) ex. We have a collection of #podestaemails which I have memed and I currently pay to promote those posts. It's important to make sure people see the corruption. Also, events like #NationalconsumerStrike are really more successful if they are promoted.
•video/ lighting/equipment
•web/internet service fees
•Hiring staff to build this platform and grow our services. Potentially, I want to venture outward and become active in our own attempts to pull away from the government control. Ex. Building community gardens/food, protesting and promoting causes that support the movement. Ex. One of my futures video ideas is to film and run a protest. Show others how to partake in massive civil disobedience. And the potential for our concept is always growing and I know this revolution is going to take a long time and a lot of hard work. I'm in it till we're not needed any more!!✌
