Melissa Overton's Healing Fund

Hello, I'm Sarah, Melissa's sister. As some of you may know, Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. This shocking news has obviously realigned her life and the lives of her loved ones. She has begun her course to healing with surgery and treatment plans that include chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy. Though she endures the process with her usual charisma, daring wit, courage, beauty, and strength, the news of this arduous journey comes with more challenges than just the eradication of the cancer.  Burdened by the medical expenses and life changes that accompany such a diagnosis, Melissa is unable to work. She and her family are under severe financial strain. As you can imagine, the path to recovery requires an intense amount of resources and time. We are hopeful that support from the community and from Melissa’s adoring and vast collective of friends and family, will make a difference and ease some of the burden of this process.

Any donation you can offer, however big or small, will be eternally appreciated and held with utmost gratitude. The little family includes a growing teenager as well as two cats and a dog. Donations will go directly toward paying medical and basic family expenses including bills, pet food, flea meds, and funds for some basic summer entertainment for the teenager (for the sake of morale, emotional health, and normalcy). In addition to monetary donations, they welcome donations of farm-fresh food from gardening friends to assist with Melissa’s restricted diet.

Melissa is a light in the life of all who know her. Lets rally around this amazing woman and help her along her way to health!
