Megavalanche Race, For Parkinson's

Donation protected
My name is Sean, I am 33 years old and I live in the Highlands of Scotland.

I am looking to raise £10,000 for the Cure Parkinson's Trust. They are researching ways to slow down and reverse the affects of this devastating disease. This charity has a very personal meaning to me.

I met my grandfather for the first time when I was 10. He had traveled from the other side of the world, Australia, to see me and my younger brother.

Meeting him for the first time was amazing. I spent the day learning about another part of my family and so did he. Geared up and ready to spend another day with this amazing man I had met the day before; I was crushed, he did not know who I was, nor could he remember meeting me the day before. My father tried to explain to me what was going on; to be honest I think was to young to fully understand the implications of Parkinson's. I only got to spend three days with him before he returned home and that was the last time I saw him. He passed soon after, and sooner that he should have!

Looking back on it I cherish the moments that I had with him, there was a essence of pure innocence about the time we spent together. I feel for the family's that have been and are affected by this devastating disease. I have seen the affect it has had on close friends and families so any contribution I can make that helps, even in the slightest, allows me to have achieved a personal goal.

The event:

The Megavalanche is a downhill mountain bike race held annually at the Alpe D'Huez ski resort in the French Alps. It spans over three days and I will be racing down a glacier from 10,000 feet over a total of 20km. It is a brutal and limit pushing event, that takes any person to their absolute limit. I am currently training to increase strength/endurance and will continue to do so until the event itself, which will be held July 2020

Here is a video of what it is all about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j-pV5rwYrg

I will also be going to local business's and vendors giving them the opportunity to purchase sticker space on the bike, any funds generated this way shall be added to the campaign.

Partial funds raised will be used in purchasing safety equipment and items needed to compete in the event/travel/most importantly health insurance. Where possible these will be procured from local business's. The aim is that equipment can be re-used in future up and coming charity runs.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to look at this, it means a lot. Can I please ask if you can, please share the link so we can reach as many as we can.

I will continue to make updates
