Francisco Grado says, “Auka, I’m improving every day, and feeling better, how are you and your brothers? It’s clear that the universe and the Mother Earth, continue to offer blessings to us all, by @guila Cochimi”

Early next, week Francisco Grado (El Aguila Cochimi) will make the seven hour drive from his home to Ensenada for his first post-op visit with his doctors ~ from the note above his operation seems to have been successful!

However during this same visit, his aunt, Juana Villa Poblano, will meet with doctors in hopes of scheduling an operation on her lower back.  And during that meeting we need to make a substantial down payment on the $6000 usd ($N120,000 peso) cost of her future operation.

During the tragic accident on Feb. 14, 2018, Juana Villa Poblano, who was serving as a delegate to the National Indigenous Congress (CNI), was thrown from the vehicle and landed directly on her tailbone, totally crushing her lowest three vertebrae and severely traumatizing the entire area.  In the first moments after the accident Doña Taña's seatmate was horribly dead, Francisco her nephew was near death, bleeding severely, and Maichuy ~ the spokeswoman for the Indigenous Governing Council (CIG) was in great pain with a traumatic fracture.  In those first moments, Doña Taña successfully hid her pain and did not accept a seat in the helicopter flying for emergency care in La Paz.  However despite the somewhat hidden nature of her trauma, pain and disability from this injury have been constant and severe companions throughout the last five months.

Tragically, she has been unable to return to her primary work as an indigenous fisher-woman and her family is experiencing terrific financial hardship.  The family also wants her to have the operation quickly because they are concerned about the many injections she is receiving to manage her extreme pain.

Please give what you can ($5, $50, $500, or more) and share our GO FUND ME with family and friends so that this weekend we can raise the $6000 needed for Juana Villa Poblano’s (Doña Taña)  operation!

Francisco Grado says, “Auka, I’m improving every day, and feeling better, how are you and your brothers? It’s clear that the universe and the Mother Earth, continue to offer blessings to us all, by @guila Cochimi”

Francisco Grado Villa is now in the hospital in Ensenada, Mexico; tomorrow morning (June 22, 2018) you will have an operation to help repair his left shoulder. The cost of this operation is $ 6000 and the need for these funds is very urgent.

Please donate today!

In the near future, her aunt, Juana Villa Poblano, must also have a serious operation on her back. The cost of this operation is also $ 6000. Juana Villa Poblano and Francisco Grado Villa are indigenous Cochimi leaders from the center of Baja California that (together with María de Jesús Patricio Martínez aka Marichuy) were injured in a terrible car accident on February 18 of 2018 when they traveled in the CIG caravan with their spokeswoman Marichuy.

Juana Villa Poblano (Doña Tana,) is a delegate to the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) and Francisco Grado Villa (Kiko: Águila Cochimí)  is a council member of the Indigenous Governing Council (CIG). Both have spent months in great pain; Kiko, el Águila Cochimí is starting to walk. To have better access to medical care, the family has rented an apartment in Ensenada (Note: this is a seven-hour trip from their homes in central Baja to Ensenada). Over the past three months, CNI and the family have given everything they can to help pay for medical and hospital bills, as well as transport costs to medical appointments and therapies in Ensenada.

But now there are simply no more funds available and we must turn to you! Doña Tana's operation will cost $ 6000; Kiko's operation will also cost $ 6000. PLEASE HELP!

Please give what you can to support these brave indigenous Cochimi who were injured as they fought to save our Mother Earth and to bring dignity, democracy and justice to Mexico and the world.

All funds donated during this GoFundMe campaign will receive 50% of Kiko and 50% of Doña Tana. Please do not hesitate to contact us by email: Peter Brown, [email redacted] or Nysai Moreno, [email redacted].
