Medical Expenses for Marguerite Repe McHugh

To start, we'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to visit this page and furthermore for the many notes, calls & texts filled with thoughts and prayers that we've received over the past few months. It’s been a really, really difficult time for our family and we couldn't have gotten to this point without the support from our extended family and friends!

For those of you unaware, our mom, Margarite (known to many of you as “Repe”) McHugh, was involved in a severe accident back in September where she suffered a traumatic, life threatening head injury. The initial diagnosis was really poor and the doctors tell us that it’s a miracle and an act of God that Mom is still with us today. Her life has been changed forever. She has been in and out of hospitals and rehab facilities since the accident and she’s fighting with every ounce of energy that she has. Through it all, not surprisingly, Mom has maintained her positive attitude. To say that she’s an amazing mother, wife and friend is an understatement. This accident couldn’t have happened to someone less deserving but Mom continues to make us smile even on her hardest days.

If you know anything about our family then you’re aware of how hard it is for us to ask for help. Call it pride or stubbornness but either way it’s just not in our nature. Sadly, we’ve now come to the conclusion that Mom’s going to need a lot of help in order to adjust to her new life. We’re going to need to reconstruct the first floor of our parent’s house so that she has a comfortable living situation. Medical bills are piling up and we really don’t see an end in sight. So, that’s why we’re reaching out for some assistance from the walks in life that Mom has touched the most…

Repe McHugh is one of the most selfless, generous and kind people that we have ever met. She was born and raised in West Conshohocken, PA. She chose to raise her kids (us) there and has been a staple of the community for her entire life. Many of you may know or recognize Mom from her 15 plus years of work at Villanova University. She loves the school, the students and being a part of the Wildcat community. Mom never hesitated to work late hours to ensure that no students went to bed on an empty stomach! Mom chose to spend her summers in Sea Isle City, NJ and her New Year’s celebrations with the Mummers – specifically O’Malley NYB!!  

We know that mom has had a positive influence on many people’s lives and we’re hoping that if you’ve had the opportunity to cross paths with her then you may be able to repay the favor in her time of need. We’re also reaching out to all of our extended families – work, school and social – to see if we can raise the funds to help make mom’s transition and her future a little bit more comfortable. Clearly, anything you can donate will help but, at a minimum, please continue to keep Mom in your thoughts and prayers. That’s what has gotten her through the surgeries and ups and downs to this point and we can’t say thank you enough for that!!
