Medical Expenses for Dimere

I can not believe it has been over two months since my brother Dimere first went in to the hospital. What a roller coaster ride this has been for him, my family, and I. But each day ,we make it. January 28th will forever be the day that changed our lives forever. My healthy, funny, charismatic, little brother was hit by a car while walking across the street. The driver did not stop to help him.  I still remember exactly what I was doing and the rush of emotions that came over me when I received that call. "Are you sitting?" My mother asked me before barely being able to mouth the words herself. "Dimere was hit ."
My brother suffered multiple fractures, total brain injury and partial paralysis. I thank God for the lady, our angel, that saw my brother laying in the road, stopped, and sat with my him until help arrived. If it had not been for her,  my brother may not be here with us today.
Since that day, my brother has made so much progress but still has so very far to go. He is still inpatient at Christiana Hospital and over the last two months has experinenced many road blocks along the way. My family and I have been right by his side. He can not talk but when  he looks in to our eyes or sqeezes our hand, we know he knows we are there.
We are hopeful that he will be a candidate for physical and cognitive rehabilitation soon.
I do not have to tell you how expensive the cost of living plus long term care and rehabilitation can be. His needs will not stop once he's well enough to come home.
