Funeral Costs

$3,391 of $3,500 goal

Hello everyone. Javon is my older brother. He's 19, turning 20 in March. As some of you may already know, Javon was in the hospital for about a week before Thanksgiving with severe stomach issues. Before test results came back, the doctors chalked it up to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or Chrohns Disease. They ran numerous tests and sent him home. After getting tested a second time, they found a mass in his colon. They biopsied the mass and sent him home again. Yesterday, December 12, 2016 Javon was diagnosed with colon cancer. We have a meeting with doctors and surgeons on Thursday to find out the extent of the cancer, and find out the treatment plan. I made this GoFundMe for him to relieve some of the stress my family may occur in the incoming months due to medical bills, and bills he may occur from his University's tuition. This is a small portion of the bills we anticipate occuring. But seeing as we did a GoFundMe earlier this year for my dad's funeral expenses, I couldn't bring myself to ask for more. Please share this with friends and family. Anything is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello everyone. Previously we did a GofundMe for medical costs for Javon. Unfortunately, Javon has been called to the Lord yesterday June 19th. We are now arranging for a proper funeral for him and any donations would be appreciated.

Javon got released from the hospital today! As his post stated on Facebook, the pathology results came back sooner than expected. Out of 56 lymph nodes removed, they found cancer cells in one lymph node. His body was so aggressive at attacking the cancer that it produced more lymph nodes than the average person has. They also found out that the cancer originated in his appendix, and moved into his colon, so the appendix was removed during the surgery as well. In three weeks he will begin chemotherapy, just to be aggressive because cancer cells were found in the one lymph node. We are grateful that we caught the cancer when we did before it had the chance to spread more widely. Thank you again, and happy holidays.

Javon is my brother, I will be withdrawing any raised funds and delivering them to him. We live together so of course that's how I'll get them to him. Thanks!

As stated in the original post, Javon's appointment was today with his team of doctors. After a very (very) lengthy 5 hour appointment, we have a basis of what it will look like to return Javon to full health again. Long story short, the doctors are optimistic that the cancer is isolated to the tumor in his colon. Although, considering how aggressive cancer tends to be, treatment will also be aggressive. He'll be having surgery to remove the tumor a few days after Christmas, followed by a few weeks rest then 12 rounds of chemotherapy. We are looking forward to when we can say he is cancer free and back to being the Indoor/Outdoor National Track runner that he is!
