Medheen Bahita Funeral Service Fund

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden death of Medheen Bahita of Atlanta, Georgia on January 9, 2017. She had severe stomach pains Sunday night and was rushed to the emergency room by her eldest daughters, Sara and Kedan. The doctors where at a loss as to what the issue could have been and rushed her into surgery. Unfortunately, she passed away as the operating room was being prepped.

Medheen was a strong follower of the Eastern Orthodox Christian faith. She dedicated her life to the church and to the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. Every Sunday she is the first to arrive to the church to start her prayers. She always attended bible study at Medhanealem Orthodox Tewahdo Church on Mondays. Medheen used any opportunity to teach others about her faith, especially to her children. Medheen is survived by her four children; Sara 22, Kedan 21, Tigsty 16, Liktykdusan 14.

A few years ago Medheen taught her children about death as it relates to the Orthodox faith. She explained that it is God’s will and no one can escape it when the time comes. During this explanation she mentioned to her children should she die, she would like to be buried in her home country, Ethiopia.

Not only did Medheen dedicate her life to the church, she dedicated her life to raising her kids as a single parent. Though she did not have much she ensured that her children where focused on school and provided them the best way she could. Her children had hopes of letting their mother retire once they had established their careers. They wanted their mom to be there when they graduate high school and college, to be there when they got married, and to be there during the birth of their children. Unfortunately, they did not get the opportunity to do so. However, they feel the least they can do is honor their mother’s wishes and bury her in her home country.

Because her children are college and high school students, they have insufficient funds to send their mother to Ethiopia. We are asking their family and friends to help Sara, Kedan, Tigsty, and Liktykdusan fulfil their mother’s wish.
