Mooch Soccer. Trenton, NJ

Following the sudden and unexpected passing of Glenn "Mooch" Myernick in 2006, Charlie Inverso and Mike Van Wagner wanted to find a way to respect and sustain the love of the beautiful game that Mooch demonstrated through a life commitment to the sport. In April, 2007 Charlie and Mike, along with a collection of incredible coaches and former players who played both with and against Mooch, formed Mooch Soccer. The goal of this program is to provide opportunities for a better life for the underserved children of Trenton and to provide them life skills through soccer.

Mooch was one of the most beloved and successful soccer players to ever come out of Mercer County. He was a Herman Trophy winner, captain of the US National team and a US National team assistant coach in the 2002 and 2006 World Cup. Mooch was a true champion of the game in every sense of the word. 

 Mooch Soccer has had much success in its first ten years and has positively impacted over 1,000 children. Its success has been unparalleled, and it's players have made great achievements both on and off the field. Academically, we have had some of our former players graduate from schools such as Princeton University, St. Joseph's University and other colleges-- something that may have been academically impossible without our program's guidance.

On the field, we have been equally successful. Mooch Soccer now has 4 travel teams ranging from ages u9-u17. One of our former players, Matt Olosunde, has represented the United States in the under 17 World Cup, and has recently signed a professional contract in England with world renown Manchester United's reserve team as he continues his soccer development and progress.

Despite these successes, we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

Our goal is to provide a sustaining revenue stream to continue these efforts and build on our success. Your financial support will guarantee opportunities for kids  who normally would not have the chance to play soccer. It will provide an organized and nurturing environment for an amazing and potentially life changing experience.
