Hope for Daniel

It is with a broken heart that I feel forced to share my son Daniels strory. This is a mothers worst nightmare. On November 11, 2015, 1/4 mile from his home Daniel was involved in a horrific car accident at the hands of a drunk driver. This driver instead of trying to help my son ran from the scene. The results of this accident has left Daniel paralyzed from the chest down. He has some movement in his arms but not his hands. His neck was broken in 4 places from c3 to c7. The arteries on both sides of his neck were damaged and required stints to keep blood flowing to his brain. He will be on blood thinner for the rest of his life as well as on going physical therapy . Daniel has 2 daughters and a sweet baby boy on the way, due in Jan. Such a joyful occasion now has a dark cloud hanging over it. Daniel may never be able to pick up his little boy. He is heart broken. He had just started a new and better job just 3 days before the accident. We have been told by his team of Drs that he will need extensive in hospital physical therapy to cope and learn how to hopefully live a productive life with his injuries. Because Daniel has no health ins rehabilitation facilities will not accept him, so he will be sent home. The one hospital that could take him has no beds but he is on a waiting list. We are working on getting him disability ins. and have been told this could take several months, but till then I have to get our home handicap accessible.... Handicap ramp and bathroom facilities are at the top of the list. I know eventually he will need a handicap van for him and his family. We are told we have about 10 days before he and his family comes home to live with me. Needless to say I am very concerned, as I also take care of Daniels disabled father and my elderly mother who has congestive heart failure. Emotions are still raw right now.... love, hurt, sadness, scared, panic..but through faith and multiple prayer chains God has blessed us with Daniels life. Our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ keeps us sustained. Thank you for listening to a rambling mother. It has helped just to be able to talk and have you listen.

As of this writing the driver of the truck has been arrested. We now know the man had no auto ins to help with the astronomical medical bills as well as future medical and personal needs for Daniel and his family. Thank you again.
