2nd Chance @ Life

Many of us have known Tuan our entire lives. I met him in the 4th grade when I moved to the Lacey/Olympia, WA area. He has always been a good friend even when years have gone by without seeing him then the invention of Facebook now we can remain close even during our most difficult times and help each other through it.

Tuan needs a lung transplant; he has already been denied by UW because he his diaphragm is not strong enough to sustain an optimal recovery from this very intensive surgery. There are 2 other places he can try while he is trying to get stronger for the surgery one hospital is in San Francisco and the other is in Denver.

What a lot of people do not understand is that the assistance Tuan does receive by his social security disability benefits do not cover each and every cost needed for him. Tuan is getting a lot of help from Kelliann Kimber another classmate of ours in seeing that he can obtain as many benefits that he is entitled to during this difficult time.

Tuan does qualify for home health care, but this is only for 17 hours per month; and it only includes things like house cleaning, buying groceries, etc. this is not round the clock care. In addition, the person who is considered his care taker does obtain money to assist him from the state, but if he is in the hospital or like he is now currently in a rehabilitation center for months to years at a time the family does not get this benefit to assist him further.

The reason for this fundraiser and why we are asking for help is Tuan will need a place to stay until his section 8 housing opens up before or after his lung transplant surgery. There is a waiting list and he is at the top, but if he gets released from the rehabilitation center and sent home to await his surgery then he will have no place to stay.

So we are asking for HELP... anything that you can afford to help or a place to stay, hotel points, or airline miles, etc. if he ends up needing to go out of state for his operation. If you have any questions regarding this situation or the legitimacy of Tuan's condition please contact myself or Kelliann Kimber or stop by and see him in the local Puget Sound Health Care on the west side of Olympia across the street from the hospital.

Anything will help. Tuan's full time care giver will be is his daughter who is an amazing woman herself she needs our help to in addition, to taking care of her father when he is home she is attending college, and working 2 jobs. Lets see if the Timberline Blazer and local community can all come together to assist Tuan during this dire time of need.
