I was told that the Employees of Myrtle Beach Police Department are staying at a local hotel in close proximity to the Barrick’s/Station.. They are having to pay for their own rooms. I understand that this is a hardship to the city and I sympathize.  However as a former officer, I realize this creates a burden for the officers, dispatchers and support personnel that are not only away from their families for many days through this storm but they now have the hardship of having to pay for their own room and expenses.  They are not required to stay at the hotel BUT if they are unable to make it back for their shift, they face the possibility of losing their job. So to show our appreciation for the sacrifices that they and their families are making to help people they don’t even know, we want to help them bear this burden by raising enough money to pay for their needs! Please support those who support you in this difficult time. These people are your neighbors, friends and the first person you call when you need help! Don’t let them down! Show them that Blue Lives Matter!

I wanted to let everyone know that all of the funds that had been collected for this cause have been distributed to the MBPD. The break down is as follows:

Money raised: $2045.00
Go Fund Fees: $70.15
Balance of Funds to spend: $1974.85

The balance of the funds were dispersed as follows:
Flooded Officer: $250
Postage For Mailing Check Requiring Signature: $3.45
Meals Provided To the Department:
9/18/18 - Publix Sandwiches, wraps, meat & cheese platter: $380.21
9/19/18: Publix Wings & Veggie Platters $281.80
9/20/18: Publix Donuts, scones, mini bagels, mini muffins, fresh fruit tart platter$288.95
10/18/18: Publix Mac & Cheese, potatoe wedges, potatoe salad, smoked chicken, smoked pork, cornbread and rolls & pastry platter: $401.63
10/19/18: Publix Mac & Cheese, potatoe wedges, potatoe salad, smoked chicken, smoked pork, cornbread and rolls & pastry platter: $401.63

** The reason for Oct 18 & 19th being duplicated is because there are 2 different brackets of officers that worked on each day. We wanted to make sure that all shifts & brackets benefitted.

***Also the reason for the delay in providing the meals was to determine if there were any other MBPD employees that had been impacted by the hurricane and/or flooding. Only one person came forth.

Total : $2,007.67

Additional items had been donated by some individuals and some businesses:

Pop, chips, paper plates, candy, macaroni & potatoe salad ( to go with the sandwiches & wraps).

Angelos Steakhouse provided pasta one night at no charge when they heard what we were attempting to do on behalf of the department employees.

Dominoes Pizza donated pizza one night at no charge
when they heard what we were attempting to do on behalf of the department employees.

We have since met the officer that was flooded and he was very grateful for the assistance. He also said the food was awesome and very much appreciated.

We also want to thank a couple of young ladies who helped with all of this preparation and planning. Going out in the weather, working midnights and going without sleep to make this all happen.

Again - thank you all for your donations to this cause. May you be richly blessed for your generosity.

This morning I had emailed Angelo's Steak & Pasta to inquire about prices for pasta and if they delivered. I just received a call from them telling me they would take pasta, meatballs, salad and garlic break to MBPD FREE. They are donating everything for this meal!

Local Residents and those who vacation here, be sure to support this business!

Just an update on this fund raiser! We are just shy of $2,000 - we thank you all for your donations and kindness. We are not able to split the money among the employees impacted by the Florence as we had hoped. To ensure that these donations get to the people they were intended for - we have been taking and having meals delivered to them each night this week around shift change .

Tuesday afternoon (9/18/18) we took them sandwiches, wraps, anti pasta salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, cheese trays. We had these items made at Publix in North Myrtle Beach. We personally delivered these items to the station.

Wednesday night (9/19/18) we had Publix in Carolina Forest make 45 pounds of wings, vegetable trays. Publix delivered these items on our behalf for free.

Today (9/20/18) we had Publix make bagels, croissants, mini muffins, fruit tarts and donut holes. Publix in Carolina Forest has again agreed to deliver the food on our behalf.

We are currently working on what to get them tomorrow and the days that follow if there are remaining funds. We will keep you posted on where your donations are being spent.

We appreciate each of you supporting this cause! The officers that we have spoken with have enjoyed and appreciated your kindness!

Correction: the cost of the hotel will not be taken out of the employees pay. All funds will go to the Myrtle Beach PD employees that were impacted.
