The Workshop Projects of the Joya Orphanage  and Utz Kaslimaal collective are in need of labour and financial support to cover costs of materials and to carry out project goals this season.

The Workshops are to begin in one month from now, on November 25th and run through December of 2018.

The method of which each group attracts funding is through online fundraising and by inviting paying participants to learn and practice ecological building techniques on site, guided by experienced building crews. The building crews, participants and donors all contribute to fund and carry out successful projects.

Currently both projects are in need of more funds and participants to achieve the project goals.

The workshops will follow principles of Earthships (www.earthshipglobal.com), Adobe, Cob, Earth Bag, Wattle and Daub, rubble trench and stone foundations, with fine natural plaster finishings.

For the Joya Orphanage in Mazunte, Mexico they are in need of more participants and missing approximately 60 % of their targeted fund raising goal https://www.gofundme.com/orphanage-Mexico

The Utz Kaslimaal Build in Guatemala is running on a shoestring budget of grassroots donations, and also needs more participants signed up to help their project.https://utzkaslimaal.org/upcoming-workshop/.

I have worked with members of each group in the past, been personally informed of each group's needs and have been requested by each group to collaborate in their fundraising and labour efforts.

Funds raised are to cover my travel and participation costs for each project.

Flight from Montreal to Guatemala roundtrip: app. 500$ CA

Participation Fees Joya Orphanage: 750$ US / 983$ CA

Over the past decade, I have self funded my studying and travelling away from my home town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, pursuing learning experiences in a diversity of regenerative endeavours rooted in my interwoven passions of environmental and social sciences, practical adaptations to climate change in rural communities.

I have consistently balanced and structured my life to be in seasonal voluntary service, granting myself time to serve the needs of a variety of communities and their environments across the globe. I have worked to learn of and improve the fundamental state of ecological and social well-being in multiple communities in North America, Central and South America, Europe and in Central Asia through natural building and regenerative, low-impact practices.

After the completion of my Bachelors of Environmental Studies and Geography (Minors in Spanish and Indigenous Studies) I continued to work seasonally in reforestation in western Canada to fund my travels and particpation with multiple non-profit Volunteer projects in Canada and abroad, focusing on Rural Community Development, Natural Building, Organic Farming, Reforestation, and Regenerative Land and Resource Management.

I have recently moved back to Nova Scotia, my home province, from B.C and Quebec after a decade of experiences in Canada and abroad including:

A Bachelors of Environmental Studies and Geography with minors in Indigenous Studies and Spanish from Bishop's University, Sherbrooke Quebec (2010-2013 with a focus in Community Responses to Decolonization and Climate Justice with Agroecology.
